Validation of the tetrasensor honey test kit for the screening of tetracyclines in honey.

چکیده
Regarding anti-infectious agents, no maximum residue limits are fixed for honey in the European legislation. Discussions are being conducted in order to set working limits at the European level; for example, for tetracyclines, 20 microg/kg was proposed. The Tetrasensor Honey test kit is a receptor-based assay using dipsticks for a rapid screening (30 min) of honey on the presence of tetracyclines. The test was validated according to Commission Decision 2002/657/EC. The test detects tetracycline, oxytetracycline, chlortetracycline, and doxycycline in honey in a specific and sensitive way. Depending on the type of tetracycline, detection capabilities (CCbeta) between 6 and 12 microg/kg were obtained (4-7 microg/kg for dried dipsticks). The test is rugged and participation with the test in an international ring trial gave compliant results. It can be concluded that the Tetrasensor Honey test kit is a simple and reliable test that can even be used at the production site.

Detection of Paenibacillus larvae larvae spores in honey and diseased larvae Samples by culture and PCR
American foulbrood (AFB) is the most serious brood disease of the honey bee. Traditional methods are reliable but rather slow simply because they are based on biochemical, morphological and physiological identification of cultivated isolates. The aim of this study is the detection of Paenibacillus larvae larvae spores in honey and diseased larvae samples by culture and PCR. Therefore 54 samp...

متن کاملComparison of the Antifungal Activity of Honey and Fluconazole against Candida albicans in vitro and in an Enteric Candidiasis Mouse Model
Background & Objective: Candidiasis has gained importance due to its increasing prevalence in immunocompromised patients. Antifungal drugs such as fluconazole and amphotericin B are used for the treatment of candidiasis. One of the biggest problems faced in clinical practice is resistance for most of these drugs. The antifungal drugs derived from natural products have helped to overcome this pr...
متن کاملFirst molecular detection of Chronic Bee Paralysis Virus (CBPV) in Iran
Among the viruses infecting honey bees, chronic bee paralysis virus (CBPV) is known to induce significant losses in honey bee colonies. CBPV is an unclassified polymorphic single stranded RNA virus. Using RT-PCR, the virus infections in honey bees can be detected in a rapid and accurate manner. Bee samples were collected from 23 provinces of Iran, between July-September 2011 and 2012. A tota...
